In response to the developing Covid-19 epidemic, Irish Concrete Society have taken the decision to postpone the Annual dinner until later in 2020. The decision was taken in the interests of our members and our wider community. We are currently exploring dates for an event in September and October and will advise of new arrangements when they become finalised. Full refunds are available.
Judging of the 38th Annual Awards has been completed and results will be announced in due course.
The Irish Concrete Society are delighted to announce the launch of our 8th International Award. This year there has been a minor but important change in the competition rules. Entrants are encouraged to read the report requirements and judging criteria carefully.

All entries to be sent to be submitted to the Society by the 7th of February 2020.
Winners will be announced at the Annual Awards Dinner in The Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, Dublin 4 on the 21st of March 2020.
An advanced Concrete Technology lecture will take place in Trinity College Dublin on the evening of the 30th of January 2020.
This event is jointly organised by the Irish Concrete Society and the Institute of Concrete Technology.
Chaired by Professor Roger West, the lecture “Concrete in a world of zero-emissions” will be given by Professor Fred Glasser, a noted expert in materials chemistry.
The lecture is aimed at Concrete Technologists and Academics in the field.
Registration via Eventbrite is required. There is no charge for the event.
In the event of demand exceeding capacity, priority will be given in the first instance to members of the ICS and ICT.
As is normal practice, the ICT and ICS will bring the speaker for dinner at a local restaurant after the lecture. Members of the ICT and ICS are also invited to attend at their own expense. Please inform john.reddy@ecocem.ie if you wish to attend dinner afterwards (for the purposes of booking). In the event of restricted numbers, priority will be given to those who book first.
Specifying the right concrete for each concrete element of a project
is a critical part of achieving durable sustainable structures that meet
client expectations.
In this day-long seminar, we look at aspects of design which enable Engineers to achieve durable reinforced concrete. From understanding the processes of possible deterioration to guidance on selecting exposure classes and using IS EN206. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and network during this day-long technical seminar, held in partnership with Engineers Ireland.
Who should attend
This seminar will be of interest to all those who are involved in the design, specification and construction of concrete. Consulting Engineers, Site Engineers, Main Contractors, Specialist Sub-Contractors and Ready-Mixed Concrete Producers.

Summary
In this half-day seminar, we examine concrete and its role in architectural concrete in projects and in smaller decorative elements and the practicalities involved. The Seminar also gives guidance on how to specify visual concrete.

The Irish Concrete Society is delighted to announce a special Award for sculptures created after 1st August 2017 which use concrete as a medium of expression.
The competition is free to enter and welcomes entries from all Sculptors, however note that the entry must be currently in Ireland and available for inspection in late 2019 or early 2020.
