Bridge and Concrete Research in Ireland (BCRI) conference
DIT & TCD, 6-7th September 2012
6/7 Spetember 2012

The next Bridge and Concrete Research in Ireland (BCRI) conference will be jointly held between DIT and TCD on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th September 2012. The conference is a joint symposium between Bridge and Infrastructure Research in Ireland (BRI) and Concrete Research in Ireland (CRI). The conference provides an outlet for presentations on state of the art research in these areas and in materials science which will be complemented by leading keynote speakers from academia and industry. The event presents practitioners and researchers with a chance to discuss topics of mutual interest and provides an excellent opportunity to foster industrial collaborations particularly for young engineers and researchers who can build useful contacts. These discussions and contacts can help develop future research proposals and funding applications leading adding to Ireland’s scientific reputation. The conference has accepted 118 high quality abstracts in the conference themes. The conference is open to every University and Institute of Technology in Ireland and, through international advertisement, aims to present Ireland as a major world centre of excellence for science, technology and innovation. The conference website can be found at www.bcri.ie

The Effects of Freeze Thaw on Concrete
Half-Day Seminar - March 29th 2011
29th March 2011

To be held at the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, Naas Road, Dublin

29th March 2011

Registration and Breakfast - 8:00 am to 9:00am

Seminar - 9:00 am to 1:00pm

This seminar is targeted at clients, designers, contractors, suppliers, specifiers, academics and researchers.

Over the past two winters Ireland has experienced temperatures consistently below freezing. This has resulted in concrete being exposed to cycles of freeze-thaw, and in many cases de-icing products which have caused damage.

This seminar discusses the causes of this damage, current practice with regard to specification and workmanship and possible solutions to prevent this damage occurring.

The seminar will be chaired by Dr Roger West (TCD) and the speakers include Dr Mark Richardson (UCD), Mr Gordon Ellis (Mattest) and Mr Brian Curtis (Curtis Enterprises).

The cost of the seminar which includes breakfast and mid-morning tea/coffee is:
